GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Department of Manufacturing Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) has a nearly 40‑year history of establishment and development. Throughout these four decades, the department has gradually built a solid foundation for its growth. The faculty members have been increasingly standardized in terms of academic qualifications and professional expertise, while continuously innovating teaching content and methodologies to enhance training quality.

Currently, the Department comprises experienced lecturers holding high academic titles and degrees, who are actively engaged in teaching, research, and technology transfer activities. The Department is responsible for delivering the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program within the Mechanical Engineering Technology discipline at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, serving more than 150 students annually. The Department also plays a key role in guiding research and technology transfer in the fields of manufacturing and innovation, with numerous research projects conducted at various levels.

FACULTY MEMBERS

Currently, the Department has 13 lecturers, including 2 Associate Professors, 10 Master’s degree holders, and 1 Engineer. All courses under the Department have detailed syllabi that are regularly updated with up-to-date knowledge. Students majoring in Manufacturing Engineering Technology are offered extensive practical training in the workshop, with a wide range of machinery and equipment.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Department delivers the courses related to theoretical knowledge in manufacturing, metrology, CAD/CAM, mold and die technology, and related fields within the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program. Undergraduate thesis projects focus on the design and fabrication of machinery and equipment serving production needs, particularly equipment for the food processing industry and post-harvest technology.

In addition to providing education and scientific consultancy, the Department’s lecturers have undertaken various research projects at institutional, ministerial, and national levels. Each year, many research works of the Department’s faculty members are published in reputable domestic and international academic journals.

LABORATORIES AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES

The Department provides practical and technical training courses for specialized students, including:

• CNC machining practice
• CAD/CAM practice
• 3D software design (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.)
• 3D printing practice
• AutoCAD courses for short-term training programs
• Coaching outstanding students to participate in the University-level Informatics Application in Machine Components Competition.
